Does my daughter need to attend all 3 days of tryouts?
Yes, your daughter needs to attend all 3 days of tryouts in order for her to be properly evaluated during our tryout process.
How many teams are there at the high school level?
At the high school level we have 5 teams comprising of 9th grade thru 12th grade. The teams are 9A, 9B, B-Squad, Junior Varsity (JV) & Varsity.
Will there be cuts?
Volleyball in the state of Minnesota and our program in particular has grown immensely in the last 5 years. We are anticipating that trend to continue and due to our limited roster sizes cuts may have to be made. We won't have a true picture of the numbers we are facing until the first day of tryouts.
Does my daughter need to attend all practices?
Yes, practices are mandatory, not suggestions. With that being said we do have a few exceptions such as a funeral, college visits or sickness however your daughter must communicate these instances with their coach. Spending time with your boyfriend is NOT an acceptable reason for missing practice.
In addition your daughter is a Student-Athlete with an emphasis on Student being first. If your daughter is having trouble with school work something can be worked out but she needs to come and talk to her coach so an action plan can be discussed.
Is my daughter required to ride the bus to away games/tournaments?
Yes, all athletes are required to ride the bus to away games. Bus departure and arrival times back at the high school are specified on the transportation page.
Is my daughter required to ride the bus from away games/tournaments?
No, if your daughter wishes to ride home with you after an away game/tournament that is acceptable however she is only able to leave with an immediate member of her family such as mother, father or legal guardian. If you wish to take your daughter home you MUST write a note and date it specifying that you will be taking her home and give it to their coach prior to leaving the facility. Grandparents and boyfriends DON'T qualify as immediate family.
With that being said NO ONE is permitted to leave the facility (both home & away games) until Varsity has completed their warm-ups. If we become aware of someone leaving prior to Varsity completing warm-ups your playing time in the future WILL be affected.
If your daughter does ride the bus back from an away game/tournament and she needs a ride home we ask that you please pick her up at the school as soon as we get back. We always tell the girls about 15 minutes out of Cambridge to contact their ride to ensure someone is there waiting for her to allow everyone to go home in a timely manner.
